The Role

The Central Engineering Control Systems Programmer provides customers with “fully developed” control solutions for complex audio, video, audiovisual, and presentation systems. As a member of the Central Engineering group, you will be part of a diverse team of engineers at the top of their field of expertise.  This group is expected to perform at a higher than average level in quality of deliverables and lead in their field.  Standards and practices are developed inside of this group to be shared and implemented in all other regions of the company.  

As a member of the national Central Engineering group, a CE Control Systems Programmer would be expected to be located near one of the following cities: Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, San Diego, Kansas City, St. Louis, Des Moines, Bismarck, Sioux Falls, Dallas, Milwaukee, Madison, Omaha, Denver  

Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations and requirements of custom control system design and integration of these products and services to meet the customer’s needs. 
  • Provide high end products/services launching/commissioning customer deliverables timely/efficiently according to project timelines.
  • Create custom user interfaces and writing code to accommodate systems which require further development for the functionality of specified systems.  
  • This role also requires further commissioning and training in conjunction with the conclusion of the systems to create a solid working solution. 
  • Research available hardware and software options
  • Analyze the capabilities of available hardware and software 
  • Program an audio visual system of various hardware and software components which work together as one integrated system, which will best meet the specific customer needs. 
  • Create control system functionality Scope of Work and final deliverable documentation to include user manuals and interface guides. 

Experience & Background

  • 3 to 5 years of industry experience
  • Previous experience in the service and installation of audio, video, audiovisual and presentation systems. 
  • Computer literacy skills supported by acknowledged manufacturer or industry certification and relevant industry experience. 
  • Knowledge of standard software for DSP set-up, switcher set up. 
  • Communication, customer relation skills, and the ability to work independently and to be self-directed. 
  • Functional graphics editing skills with Adobe Photoshop or comparable graphics editing software. 
  • Experience with other object oriented programming languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, Perl, etc.) and multiple computer operating systems (Mac OS, PC, Linux, etc.) 
  • Intermediate to advanced AV networking knowledge is a requirement. 
  • Previous and current systems engineering, installation, and field service experience
  • Academic background in specific Audio, Video, and IT related curriculum

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations

  • CTS Certification with Design Online, Design Level 1 and 2 training completed, or CTS-I or CTS-D Certification. 
  • Crestron Silver Certification/Training and/or AMX Control Programmer Certificate/Training. 
  • Cisco networking certification (CCENT, CCNA, etc.), programming languages (C#, Python, RESTful API’s) are highly desirable.
