Upper Elementary Guide (Teacher) & Curriculum Developer

Lake Forest, CA

We are a new neighborhood lab school located in Foothill Ranch, CA (just outside of Irvine) and we serve children at the preschool and elementary levels in large, light-filled classrooms that offer children a beautiful, home-like environment. Our

Elementary program offers a content-rich deep knowledge curriculum embedded into a Montessori framework. Our pedagogical mission is to create a discovery-learning model that emphasizes strong skill acquisition in mathematics, reading, and writing (grammar, vocabulary, and spelling), as well as robust content-knowledge through the study of great literature, science, and history. Within our mixed-age groupings, we utilize an extensive array of learning materials and innovative curriculum resources, while nurturing individual responsibility, life-skill development, and self-motivation.

As an Upper Elementary Teacher and Curriculum Developer at our school, you will have the pleasure of working closely with a small group of students, developing and then delivering an exceptional academic program. You will draw on your deep knowledge of, and passion for, your subject area of expertise, whether it is in the humanities (gained through, for example, your study of the classics at the University of Chicago’s Great Books Program) or science (gained, for example, through your experience as a natural history museum docent). You will exemplify the ideal of a deep and abiding love of fundamental human knowledge, and serve as an example and inspiration to your students. You will work alongside an AMI-trained Lower Elementary Montessori Guide and have the support of our central curriculum team.

This role is ideal for an upper elementary or junior high teacher with at least 3 years of experience and a deep expertise and passion for his/her subject area. It's a curriculum developer's dream: a small class of students to provide constant feedback, brilliant colleagues who are excited about education research, and the space to create resources with a reach beyond your classroom!
