Citysense is an exciting new branch of J Frankl C Mallea Associates Architects & Engineers (JFA), created to support the permitting and expediting process of our client’s NYC building projects. JFA is seeking a full time Expeditor/Filing Rep to join our team.
Field Expeditor | New York, NY
Working with JFA employee’s to prep and review all paperwork and drawings necessary to receive building permits, and resolve objections related to the Department of Buildings (as well as other jurisdictions where approval is required). This position will involve extensive travel across the city as paperwork and drawings are often required to be submit in person by this representative at the various jurisdictions.
Prep all paperwork necessary for building permit approvals, ensure accuracy, acquire necessary signatures required on the forms, and review them with the JFA team and consultants.
Submit (expedite) allpaperwork and drawings necessary for building permit approvals to the necessary jurisdictions such as DOB, DOH, BSA, FDNY, Landmarks, Parks, Department of Finance, etc; tracking and monitoring progress to ensure approvals are achieved in a timely manner.
Review architectural and engineering drawings for code and zoning compliance, making recommendations where improvements could be made, and work with the architectural and engineering team to resolve all objections.
Help the team come up with creative solutions when objections seem difficult to resolve.
Attend all Department of Buildings Review Appointments for the project and schedule those appointments, coordinating with the team for optimum timing.
Coordinate and oversee all sign offs for the building projects.
Track all expediting required for the project and manage the permit process to ensure items such as Certificate of Occupancy, Public Assembly, and other Approvals necessary for the building project are obtained in a timely and organized manner.
Document and file all paperwork, drawings, objections, and approvals in JFA’s project folders.
Provide regular status reports to JFA regarding the expediting and approvals of the project and next steps.
Professionally handling filing fees necessary for the projects.
Experience & Background
Class 2 Filing Representative ID
Bachelors or Associates degree preferred.
3 years minimum work experience as a Building Code & Zoning Field Expeditor required.
Expert in using DOB’s online systems such as HUB.
Expert in NYC Building Code, Zoning Resolutions, Local Laws, Rules of NYC, NYCECC Multiple Dwelling Law, MTA, and other resolutions that dictate legal requirements for buildings in NYC.
Expert in advising whether Alt 1, Alt 2 or Alt 3 filings should be done for each project.
Implement superior customer service when interacting with clients, consultants, and colleagues.
Ability to professionally manage confidential information.
