Our Mortgage Banking Operations Team is nimble, responsive and continually provides our originators with help and education to adapt to the many changes in products, guidelines, compliance and regulations.

Opes Advisors offers an extensive range of conventional conforming, high-balance, home equity and jumbo loan programs through established relationships with major banks, niche lenders and private investors. Our underwriters are experts in local markets and we are a direct seller servicer to FNMA and fully delegated for FHA /VA loans which means we maintain complete control of the process for fast turn-times and a smooth process.

As one of the leading independent mortgage banks in the jumbo space in the nation, we offer a mix of jumbo products with expanded underwriting criteria, higher LTV options, flexible reserve requirements, competitive ARM pricing, common sense underwriting and ease of closing. We are fully delegated on loan amounts to $1.5 million and offer loans up to $2 million.

The Role

Opes Advisors is currently seeking experienced and top-performing Mortgage Advisors to work in one of our Bay Area offices. Our mortgage offer includes competitively-priced jumbo, conforming, and government loan products in a specialized mortgage banking platform; a local operations team – from underwriting to funding – who understands the nuances of local markets and provides complete sales support to our Mortgage Advisors.

Tasks & Duties

  • Approve loans within specified limits, and refer loan applications outside those limits to management
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants' credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
  • Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Stay abreast of new types of loans and other financial services and products in order to better meet customers' needs.
  • Submit applications to credit analysts for verification and recommendation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Satisfaction of state licensing requirements and other regulatory standards must be met
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Mortgage Advisor.
  • Demonstrated successful sales track record with established relationships in the local Bay Area markets.
  • Solid experience working with multiple loan types.
  • BA/BS degree in business, finance or related field is preferred.
  • Completion of the Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending, and Equity Origination trainings are require.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and comprehend market fluctuations
  • Working knowledge of lending guidelines and a thorough understanding of the process and procedures
