Account Director | Baltimore, MD

Do you enjoy playing a role as both an account lead and a strategist? Response Labs is looking for a senior digital account director who wants to thrive in a startup environment. This position requires a deep understanding of digital marketing and technology, strategic planning, and attention to detail

In this role, you will lead a collaborative effort between clients and internal staff on the creation, execution and optimization of digital campaigns and projects. You will be the account lead with multiple clients. You need to have the political skill to work with all types of personalities to get the job done exceptionally well.


This list of day-to-day responsibilities is broad and ever-changing. Here are a few things that you can expect to do from day one:

Account Leadership and Project Management

  • Provide strategic insight on existing campaigns and projects, making suggestions for optimization of resources for increased performance
  • Schedule and lead regular calls and meetings with clients–ability to travel is required
  • Manage budgets, resources and timelines for client initiatives
  • Identify and act upon client needs and opportunities
  • Clearly outline project plans, deliverables, timelines and goals for both clients and internal staff
  • Work with internal staff to develop basic wireframes, site trees and other documentation on specific projects
  • Assist clients with content development and management for their existing websites (Sitecore CMS, WordPress, etc)
  • Generate regular campaign analytics reports with insights, key learnings and clear next steps

Email marketing campaigns

  • Develop basic wireframes, content plans, and schedules as needed, with the occasional copywriting duties
  • Work with internal staff to support clients with staging and deploying email campaigns within a variety of email service providers–ExactTarget, MailChimp, etc.
  • Generate post-deployment reports with insight, key learnings and clear next steps
  • Recommend optimization plans, including basic A/B testing, dynamic content and new ideas

Paid advertising campaigns in search and social for existing Clients

  • Work with internal staff to create, build and execute campaigns within Google, Bing, Facebook and Twitter
  • Advise and train internal staff and clients managing their own paid advertising campaigns
  • Generate regular reports with insight, key learnings and clear next steps

 Planning and business development

  • Play a role in social media and organic search strategy and execution both internally and on behalf of clients
  • Creation of presentations for existing Client campaigns as well as new business opportunities


  • Minimum 8 years experience working directly with clients and 3-5 years as an account lead in an advertising agency or digital marketing/development company, or similar position
  • Proven experience leading digital projects and campaigns as an account manager, project manager, or strategist – show us your leadership skills and comprehension of the business
  • Experience with email marketing tools such as MailChimp and ExactTarget
  • Experience with Google Analytics reporting and insights
  • Basic knowledge of html as used in content management
  • Experience with lead generation, CRM and/or Loyalty campaigns using tools such as SalesForce, Hubspot, Marketo, or similar
  • Experience working with project management applications like JIRA, TeamworkPM, Slack, and/or Basecamp (or similar)
  • Proficient understanding of basic business applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Google Docs
  • Experience in non-digital marketing is also a plus – understanding the nuances of running a print, out-of-home, broadcast, or PR campaign, for example
