Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI) is seeking a mid-level (or senior) candidate to be trained and mentored by a nationally recognized senior tree preservation expert and related skilled technical and management staff.


  • Perform specimen tree assessments (CTLA or TRAQ)
  • Review civil, architectural, and landscape architecture plans, details, and specifications for conflicts with trees
  • Prepare tree preservation plans, specifications, and details
  • Prepare educational power points and workshops, proposals and marketing pieces
  • Perform forest stand delineations/EVAs 

Background and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, landscape architecture, or closely related discipline
  • Background/experience in urban forestry or landscape architecture
  • Strong knowledge of/experience in the following:  arboriculture, tree preservation, tree root patterns and morphology, large tree transplanting, and forest and landscape plant identification (including trees/shrubs).
  • Knowledge of the ecology of the Mid-Atlantic both natives and invasive species
  • Interest in working both indoors and outdoors in varying terrain
  • Ability to work closely with design and construction management teams
  • Willingness to regularly travel regionally


  • Familiarity with land clearing, site work, residential and commercial construction and renovations, campus, monument and historic sites, corporate, and underground utilities construction
  • Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
  • Maryland Registered Professional Forester
  • ISA Certified Arborist
  • ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification
  • Maryland Licensed Tree Expert
  • FCA Qualified Professional
  • Professional Landscape Architect
  • GIS and/or CAD experience
  • Master’s degree in forestry, landscape architecture, or closely related discipline
